A community devoted to studying, practicing, and preserving the living wisdom of Jain dharma.
Our Name
We take our name from Anekantavada one of the cornerstones of Jain thought. It teaches that truth is many-sided, that no single viewpoint holds the whole of reality, and that wisdom begins with the humility to recognize this. That spirit shapes everything we do how we study, how we teach our children, and how we welcome people of every background through our doors.
Our Mission
Anekant Foundation exists to keep the teachings of Jain dharma alive and accessible for our community and for generations to come. We are organized exclusively for religious, charitable, and educational purposes. Our work centers on teaching and sharing Jain philosophy and values Ahimsa (non-violence), Satya (truth), Anekantavada (many-sidedness), Aparigraha (non-attachment), and Asteya (non-stealing). We create spaces for practice through scriptural study, meditation, and youth education, preserve Jain heritage and texts, and build bridges through interfaith understanding.
What We Do
Our work takes shape through four programs: Swadhyay (scriptural study), Dhyan (meditation and retreats), Pathshala (youth education), and Community & Interfaith gatherings. Each is open to newcomers and longtime practitioners alike.
How We're Run
Anekant Foundation is a California nonprofit religious corporation and a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, based in Alameda County. We are guided by a volunteer Board of Directors and supported by our community. We take accountability seriously each year we share a report of our programs and finances with the community, and our tax filings are available for public inspection as required by law.
All Are Welcome
We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic. Whether you were raised in the Jain tradition or are simply curious about its teachings, you are welcome here.
